The goal of the Horstick lab is to understand how environmental and sensory experiences shape neural circuits and animal behavior. We use a variety of sophisticated genetic and imaging techniques to explore experience-dependent mechanisms in vivo. Our main system is the zebrafish, yet we are steadily expanding to other fish models to identify conserved mechanisms regulating neural plasticity during evolution.
