Jansen Nipko

Biology Ph.D., Brzostek Lab

“Biology can seem like a “simple” major, but there are so many different facets to it. I love that everything around us ties somehow into biology, and thus that makes it important to everyone.”

Hometown: West Jordan, Utah

Hobbies: Rock Climbing, Mnt Biking, Rafting, Skiing

An interesting fact about yourself: I lived in Argentina for 2 Years

Favorites: Fall, Christmas, Sage Green, Lake Powell, Utah, Grizzly Bear, Oregon Coast

Interests outside of major: I actually think genetic research is really interesting. There is still so much that we don’t know regarding epigenetics, and I find that fascinating.

Research Interests

The plant/microbe nexus is of extreme importance to ecosystem health as it plays a central role in biogeochemical cycling. My research aims to understand how plant/microbe interactions will change/be affected by climate change, and what those shifts will do to carbon storage in forest ecosystems. View Graduate Student Profile
