The West Virginia University Core Arboretum is managed by the Department of Biology and supports the teaching, research, and service efforts of the university by providing resources and opportunities for the study and enjoyment of plants, animals, and natural processes.
The WVU Core Arboretum is a public greenspace with a botanical garden and an old-growth forest preserve. We welcome visitors free of charge every day, from dawn to dusk. Free parking for visitors is available at the Arboretum parking lot. The adjacent WVU Coliseum Parking Lot charges a small fee, payable only through ParkMobile app, during weekday business hours, but it is free on evenings after 4 pm and on weekends. Nearby restrooms are in the WVU Creative Arts Center, across Monongahela Boulevard, if it is open, and there are portable toilets in the Arboretum parking lot. Trail maps and other information are available free of charge at the information kiosk near the Arboretum parking lot.
