The Department of Biology has an innovative vision to transform biological research and teaching. Through our state-of-the-art facilities, we encourage collaboration across disciplines. We take the lead to address challenges through research spanning from the molecular level to entire ecosystems. We engage students in hands-on research and redefine the student experience.

The Department of Biology is located in the Life Sciences Building located on the WVU downtown campus. The $50 million building opened in 2001, and was officially dedicated on October 17, 2002.

- Faculty labs and offices are on the fourth and fifth floors.
- The Ecotron and greenhouse are on the penthouse floor.
- The WVU Herbarium is in the basement.
