Role: PhD Student,
Growth to a set adult body size is essential to an animal’s propagation and survival in every ecosystem. However, the mechanisms by which size is determined are poorly understood. Utilizing planaria (asexually reproducing, highly regenerative flatworms), I am exploring the role of planarian Hox gene post2b in mediating final body size through coordinated control of cell proliferation and apoptosis.
