My research investigates the invasive grass Microstegium vimineum (stiltgrass) and the function of a potential invasive trait, the awn. This research aims to elucidate awn function and its role in invasion success through reciprocal transplant and various additional experiments examining the effects of awn type on germination, survival, seed bank longevity, and dispersal. The outcomes of this research will provide insights into the mechanisms behind invasive range expansion, informing management and invasion risk assessment into new regions and in response to climate change.
