Isaiah Aites

In our lab we focus on uncovering neurodevelopmental processes using zebrafish. Neurodevelopmental disorders affect a significant portion of families, and one such disorder derives from a mutation in the GSX2 gene. I use fluorescent labeling methods to determine Gsx2's role in apoptosis, proliferation, and neural identity. I also focus on the expression and function of gsx2 in eye development. In addition, we will use RNA sequencing to establish genes regulated by Gsx2.
