The B.A. with a major in biology requires a minimum of 32 hours to a maximum of 42 hours in biology, with 128 hours total required for graduation. Required courses include:
Bachelor of Arts candidates must take 14 hours of required biology electives, one of which must have a laboratory, may be selected from the following list:
BIOL 386 (limited to four hours of credit), 486 (limited to four hours of credit), 301, 302, 310, 311(L), 312, 313, 315, 316, 317(L), 324, 325(L), 335, 336, 337, 338, 339, 340(L), 341(L), 348, 350(L), 351(L), 352(L), 353(L), 361(L), 362(L), 363, 364, 410, 411(L), 412, 413, 414(L), 415(L), 424, 425, 432(L), 433, 434, 436, 437, 438(L), 438, 439(L), 440(L), 441(L), 450(L), 453, 454, 461, 462, 463, 464, (493 and above), PHYS 225, AEM 341(L), AEM 401(L), GEOL 331(L), AGBI 410, BIOC 339, BIOC 531.
Only one approved non-BIOL course can be used to fulfill the 14-hour elective requirement.
Permission of the department must be obtained to enroll in BIOL 293, 386, 486, 491, and 493A; however, only four credit hours of 386/486 may be used towards the 15-hour elective requirement. Graduate (500-level) courses in biology may be taken if approved by the dean and department.
BIOL 293, 235, and 491 do not satisfy the required 15 hours of electives in biology. They can serve as general electives.
